An international company, Doosan boasts a proud history spanning more than 120 years. This makes it South Korea’s oldest business organization. Two years ago, Doosan settled in Switzerland, establishing a branch in Baden. The R&D center is designed to advance the company’s development of large gas turbines. This research, it turns out, is historically appropriate: the world’s first gas turbine was developed in Baden in 1939.

Aargau Services and Doosan crossed paths for the first time when the company was looking for a suitable branch location in Switzerland. Minseok Ko, Branch Office Manager of the Doosan Research and Development Center in Baden, explains the choice of location: “There is a great deal of expertise concentrated in Baden, and the region’s tremendous potential in terms of qualified energy specialists is a huge bonus. It didn’t take us long to realize we were in the right place.” With the support provided by Aargau Services, Doosan was able to establish contacts with cantonal institutions and partners and establish a business network in Switzerland. A pleasant surprise for Minseok Ko in Switzerland? “We’re based in Baden – but we’re a team made up of many nationalities, working together toward one goal: to be the market leader with our turbines.”
