Grand Council

The Grand Council is the Cantonal Parliament. Its 140 members are elected by popular vote. It determines (for the most part in the shape of laws) the rules applicable for living in the Canton of Aargau.

The Government Council is the supreme executive authority of the Canton. It consists of five members elected according to the simple majority procedure for one term of office of four years.
